Scheepjes KAL 2022 Week Six | Week Zes

And just like that, we are over the halfway point of the Scheepjes Knit-a-Long and onto the second cushion! From this week onwards we’ll be knitting on the Claire cushion, and MANY of you have been looking forward to this. While the Jamie cushion is very entertaining with the fun tartan sections, the floral patterns in the Claire cushion and most of all the clovers are just irresistible! I am very curious to see all of your Claire cushions emerging to match all of your Jamie cushions, this is all so fun for me to watch and enjoy. And of course, in this blogpost I will point you to the pattern, I have the colour-in version of the chart for you, and some extra tips for this week.

En toen waren we opeens over de helft van de Scheepjes Knit-a-Long en beginnen we met het tweede kussen! Vanaf deze week breien we aan het Claire kussen, en ik weet dat VELEN van jullie hierop hebben gewacht. Hoewel het Jamie kussen heel leuk is om te breien met de Schotse ruit patronen, zijn de bloemige patronen van het Claire kussen toch wel heel verleidelijk, vooral de klavers! Ik ben héél benieuwd naar al jullie Claire kussens en hoe ze gaan passen bij de Jamie kussens, het is zo leuk voor mij als ontwerper om dit allemaal te mogen zien. En natuurlijk vind je in deze blogpost de linkjes naar het patroon, de inkleur versie van het schema, en extra tips voor deze week.

Pattern Part Six | Patroon Deel Zes

In Part 6 of the pattern, we will be casting on for the second cushion and knitting the first few charts. The first part will be very similar and will make your two cushions match together. If you want a refresher on the Judy’s Magic Cast On – it is after all the hardest part – find the tutorial in the Tips and Tricks video here. We’ll be knitting 2 rounds after the cast on until the start of the first Chart, and the first Chart will be the same as Chart 1 of the Jamie cushion, but with inverted colours.

Colour Your Chart | Kleur je schema in

If you want to print out your colouring chart, click here for the PDF version. For the members of Team Free Spirit: the third chart, or Rows 13-31 in the colouring sheet, depicts vines with berries hanging from them. As this is a more visual chart, like the thistle from the Jamie cushion, this is a really fun chart to choose colours for. Do you go for true to nature colours, with green vines and red berries, or something else entirely? I’m looking forward to seeing your photos!

Voor de leden van Team Free Spirit: in het derde schema, of Rij 13-31 van het inkleurschema, zie je blaadjes met bessen eraan. Omdat dit een heel visueel schema is, net zoals de distels van het Jamie kussen, is het heel leuk hiervoor kleuren te kiezen. Ga je voor natuurgetrouwe groene blaadjes met rode bessen, of misschien iets heel anders? Ik kijk al uit naar jullie foto’s!

Tips for this Week | Tips voor deze Week

Cast on | Opzetten

We start this week with the cast on, and it might be a good idea to think back to the start of the first cushion. Was there anything that worked well for you? Did you use Judy’s Magic Cast on, or some other method? Keep your stitch markers handy and place them every 10 or 20 stitches for easy counting. Did you use two circular needles, or just one? Perhaps you used two needles and want to try using one needle now on magic loop.

We beginnen deze week weer met het opzetten, dus denk nog even terug aan het opzetten van het eerste kussen en wat toen handig voor je was. Deed je de Judy’s Magic Cast On, of wellicht een andere? Houd de stekenmarkeerders bij de hand en plaats ze elke 10 of elke 20 steken voor gemakkelijk tellen. Gebruikte je twee rondbreinaalden, of één? Of misschien deed je het eerst op twee naalden, en wil je het nu op één naald proberen. 

Easy repeats | Gemakkelijke herhaalpatronen

For Chart 18, remember that the center row is ‘one, one, one, one’, and the other rows will be quite easy to remember as well, especially since you’ve done this chart twice already for the first cushion. For Chart 19, note that Rounds 6, 8, 10 and 12 are ‘three, three’, and Rounds 7, 9 and 11 are ‘one, two, one, two’. So easy! And to top it off, Chart 20 is also a very easy one with all the ‘vine’ rounds being ‘two, two, two, two’.

Voor Schema 18 kun je voor de middelste toer onthouden: “een, een, een, een”, en de andere toeren van dat schema zijn ook vrij gemakkelijk te onthouden. Vooral omdat je dit schema al twee keer hebt gebreid in je eerste kussen. Bij Schema 19 zijn Toeren 6, 8, 10 en 12 allemaal “drie, drie”, en Toeren 7, 9 en 11 “een, twee, een, twee”. Zo simpel! En als kers op de taart is Schema 20 ook een gemakkelijke, voor alle ‘blaadjes’ toeren kun je “twee, twee, twee, twee” onthouden.
