What’s almost as warm and cosy as a pair of handknit socks? If you ask me, a cup of glühwein (mulled wine) will do nicely. The Glühwein Socks are knit from the cuff down, starting with a fun cuff design I want to name the Polkadot Cuff, a Shadow Wrap heel and a rounded toe. Tweed thread yarn is incorporated in the leg and foot of these socks to create the tweedy look. The toe is finished off with grafting.

Yarn
Yarn A: Scheepjes Metropolis 061 Tokyo (50g/200m; 75% Merino extra fine, 25% Nylon) x 1 ball
Yarn B: Scheepjes Downtown 050 Bogotá (50g/200m; 75% Merino extra fine, 25% Nylon) x 1 ball for sizes 1, x 2 balls for sizes 2-6 (or possibly 1 ball for Size 2 if you make the leg just a tad shorter)
Yarn C: Rico Design Creative Jazz Up yarn – 5 Ivy (25g/285m; 100% Polyester) x 1 ball
Recommended needle size:
2.25mm (US1) or 2.5mm (US1.5) double pointed needles or 80cm long circular needles
Other materials: scissors, darning needle
