7mm circular needle or DPNs / 7 mm rondbreinaalden of dubbelpuntige naalden

Gauge and Tension // Stekenverhouding

11.5 sts and 16.5 rows of stockinette with 8mm needle, blocked, measure 10x10cm

Pattern Notes // Opmerkingen

This knitting pattern features 2-colour colourwork. In total you will be working with three colours, but you will never work with more than two colours per round, which makes for very pleasant knitting. Please note that in order to get two hats out of just 1 ball per colour, you need to switch Yarn A and B for the second hat.

In dit patroon komt 2-kleuren kleurwerk voor. In totaal gebruik je drie kleuren voor de muts, maar per toer zul je met maximaal twee kleuren werken, dat is nog eens fijn breien! Als je twee mutsen wilt breien uit slechts 1 bol per kleur, wissel dan voor de tweede muts Kleur A en B om. 

Colourwork Chart // Kleurwerk Schema

 

In this Colourwork Chart, the blue box stands for Yarn A, the red box for Yarn B, and the white box for Yarn C. Refer to the Material list above to see which yarn to use if you want to replicate the samples in the pictures. Of course you can also choose your own colour combination! Please note: a box with a dot inside signifies a purl stitch. You purl the stitch right above the singular white stitch, to make that one stand out more.

In dit Kleurwerk Schema staat een blauw vierkantje voor Kleur A, een rood vierkantje voor Kleur B, en een wit vierkantje voor Kleur C. Bekijk de lijst van Benodigdheden om te kijken welke kleuren je moet gebruiken, of bepaal je eigen kleuren! Let op: een vierkantje met een bolletje erin betekent een averechte steek. Dit doe je boven de ene witte steek om die wat extra naar voren te halen. 

Pattern // Patroon

Cast on 60 sts for the small version or 66 sts for the bigger version, using alternate cable cast on. TIP: after casting on all sts, don’t join in the round but turn your work. After knitting the next row, your work will be stretchy enough to join in the round, and the little gap you can sew up using the yarn end later on.

Row 1 (RS): Knit 1×1 ribbing – k1, p1 until the end of the row.

Join to work in rounds.

Rounds 1-7: Knit 1×1 ribbing

Round 8: k all sts

Rounds 9-33: Knit following the colourwork chart Rows 1-25. Please note: In Row 7 and 17 of the colourchart, purl the st above the singular st in Yarn C to let it stand out.

After knitting the very last Yarn B stitch, begin the crown decrease:

Round 34: *k2, k2tog, k2, repeat from * to end of round.

Round 35: k all sts

Round 36: *k1, k2tog, k2, repeat from * to end of round.

Round 37: *k1, k2tog, k1, repeat from * to end of round.

Cut the yarn, leave a long for sewing. Thread the yarn through all sts on the needle and pull tight. Be careful not to break the yarn as it comes apart easily.

Zet voor de kleinere maat 60 stn op en voor de grotere maat 66 stn, gebruik hiervoor de zogeheten alternate cable cast on.

TIP: nadat je alle stn hebt opgezet, begin dan niet direct met in het rond breien. Brei eerst de volgende rij, hierna zal je werk rekbaar genoeg zijn om in het rond verder te breien.

Rij 1 (GK): Brei 1×1 boordsteek – 1r, 1av, herhaal tot einde rij.

Ga nu verder in het rond.

Toer 1-7: Brei 1×1 boordsteek

Toer 8: Brei alle stn r

Toeren 9-33: Brei volgens Rijen 1-25 van het Kleurwerk Schema. Let op: in Rij 7 en 17 van het Kleurwerk Schema brei je de s averecht boven de s in Kleur C. Zo zorg je ervoor dat die wat meer naar voren komt. 

Nadat je de allerlaatste Kleur B steek hebt gebreid, ga dan verder met het minderen:

Toer 34: *2r, 2r.sbr, 2r, herhaal van * tot einde toer.

Toer 35: brei alle stn r

Toer 36: *1r, 2r.sbr, 2r, herhaal van * tot einde toer.

Toer 37: *1r, 2r.sbr, 1r, herhaal van * tot einde toer.

Knip het garen af waarbij je een lang draadeinde laat. Haal deze draad door alle stn op de naald en trek strak. Let op dat je het garen niet per ongeluk kapot trekt hiermee. 

Finishing // Afwerking

Weave in all ends. Wash with woolwash (gently) and block over a balloon or a bowl turned upside down. Add a pompom for extra cuteness! Tip: you don’t have to sew the pompom to the hat, simply thread some yarn through the top of the hat and tie it on the inside. This will allow you to remove the pompom whenever you want, for example when washing your hat.

Werk alle draadjes weg. Was met wolwasmiddel (voorzichtig) en span de muts over een ballon of over een kom die je ondersteboven hebt gezet. Bevestig een pompom om de muts extra schattig te maken! TIP: de pompom hoef je niet vast te naaien, je kunt hem ook met een draadje vastknopen aan de binnenkant van de muts, zo kun je hem gemakkelijk weer verwijderen, bijvoorbeeld als je de muts weer wilt wassen.
