Our Tribe

Our Tribe

Let me tell you the story of my tribe..

Once upon a time.. there were thirteen very creative women, from all around the world. Although they were very different, they had at least one thing in common: their love for yarn! Some of them were already well known in the designing world of knitting and crochet, while others were still having fun exploring it. They were all happily crafting away, until one day they were brought together by a mysterious person, who would eventually turn out to be their momma bear. Having a common ground, there was next to no ‘awkwardness’ and the women all got along immediately! They would craft together and share their knowledge, and above all: they would laugh until they cried! Although they each had admirable qualities of their own, once brought together their skills truly seemed to flourish and bloom! Because most of the women lived far away from each other, they could only really get together once every year. Each time it was just as magical as the first time they met, and they treasured every single minute. After each meet-up, needless to say everyone was sad to say goodbye.. But each of them knew, that this was their tribe, and they would always be connected, even being thousands of miles away!

Cheesy isn’t it? But I couldn’t help it! I just feel so strongly about these women, about my tribe, and I’m so happy that Scheepjes has celebrated our tribe with their gorgeous new yarn: Scheepjes Our Tribe.

Just look at these colours, aren’t they amazing? I haven’t even told you the best part, although you might already know from what the other bloggers have mentioned on their blog. We’re doing a little blog hop, where each day from December 5th through December 17th there’s a new blogpost coming out each day! From tomorrow, you can hop along to Esther’s blogpost on It’s all in a Nutshell right here. So what’s the best thing, you ask? Well, we’ve had the immense honour and pleasure of designing each colourway ourselves! Yes that’s right, we all got to pick colours for our own colourway, and it has our name on it!!

Let me take you back to Blogger’s Day in the winter of 2016, where we were told this amazing news, and we got to play around with these paint chips! Here you can see the colours I’ve chosen for my colourway. Believe it or not, the ‘rejects’ on the left are really all different colours!

Ta-dahhh, this is how it came out! My very own ‘New Leaf’ colourway!!

En ta-daah, dit is het geworden! Mijn ‘New Leaf’ kleur!!

I crocheted a little swatch to show you part of the colour repeat.

These are some of the other colours, which I think would look really lovely used together in a project, as a kind of colour fade effect! If you’d like to hear more about combining colours, and also seeing each colour up close, be sure to watch my video about this yarn below!

Hi, I really enjoyed your introduction to each Tribe. Would you also help me find 2 other shades to go with Dedri’s Lookwhatimade? I would choose Haak Maar Raak but I would like to move away from that shade for now. It would be for the RBTL project.

I want to thank you for placing Felted Button, Simy, and Miss Neriss together for a fade project. However, I would like to replace Miss Neriss. What would you recommend?

And what would you recommend would go together with New Leaf? Or perhaps, just as it is?

Thank you so much for reading this. Cheers.

Hi Michelle, thank you for your comment! As for which yarns to put with Look At What I Made, I’m not sure if you’ve seen the latest fade shawl pattern by Miss Neriss? Please see it here: https://missneriss.com/2018/01/12/our-tribe-my-tribe-shawl-reveal/
In her second version, the fade version, she uses my colourway together with Look At What I Made and also Jellina Creations. I hadn’t thought these shades would go together, but they work so perfectly!

For your other question, if you’re looking for an alternative colourway for Miss Neriss in the Felted Button & Simy fade, I think Cypress Textiles would be wonderful as an alternative.

      I hope this helps!

    Hi Carmen,

I do love the combination of New Leaf, Lookwhatimade and Jellina Creations. I would like to substitute Jellina with another shade, and I would like your thoughts on that. I love Jellina, but I would prefer to move to another shade other than red. I think Jellina has reds?

    Many thanks.
