Mijn gebreide muts van het Scheepjes Secret Garden garen is klaar! En wat vind ik hem mooi geworden.. De kleuren waren nogal een verrassing, want naast geel zat er ook lichtgroen en roze in. Maar dat vond ik juist ook heel leuk, zo hoef je geen ingewikkeld stekenpatroon te gebruiken om een mooi eindresultaat te krijgen. 

Ik wilde hem de Eyelet Hat gaan noemen (die kleine gaatjes noem je in het Engels eyelets namelijk), maar er blijken al een hele hoop patronen te zijn met die naam. Helpen jullie meedenken? Het mag geïnspireerd zijn op het garen (met zijde erin!), op het steekpatroon, op de kleur.. wat dan ook!

My Scheepjes Secret Garden hat is finished! I am totally smitten with it.. The colours were quite a surprise since it didn’t just have yellow shades in it but also green and pink! I really liked that because you don’t need a complicated stitch pattern to get a beautiful result.

I wanted to call this design Eyelet Hat, but there are quite a lot of patterns called that way already. If you have a suggestion, please tell me in the comment section! It could be inspired by the yarn (it has silk in it!), by the stitch pattern, by the colour.. anything!

Hier zie je het stekenpatroon beter, ik heb met omslagen gewerkt zodat er gaatjes vormen. Hij is nog steeds heerlijk warm hoor, die gaatjes doen daar geen afbreuk aan 😉 Wat ik het fijnste vind aan deze muts is de rand, lekker breed en hij blijft goed op zijn plek zitten. Zoals ik in de vorige blog over dit project vertelde heb ik een speciale opzettechniek gedaan (instructiefilmpje volgt hopelijk snel!!) 

On this pic you can see the stitch pattern better, I’ve used yarnovers to create holes in the fabric. It’s still nice and warm though! What I like most about this hat is the brim, it’s nice and wide and stays put. Like I told you in my last post about this hat, I used a special cast on technique (instruction video coming soon!)

Hoewel ik de gele muts heel mooi vind, past hij jammer genoeg niet zo goed bij mijn haarkleur, vandaar dat mijn Vietnamese vriendin Minh hem hier modelleert, hij staat haar zo goed! En omdat blauw mijn lievelingskleur is, besloot ik er nog eentje te maken! Afgelopen zondag begonnen, woensdag klaar. Echt een supersnel werkje. Ook leuk te maken als cadeautje, want bij mutsen luistert de maat niet zo nauw. Deze muts paste een heel aantal vrouwen in mijn omgeving, dus je kunt hem prima maken voor iemand anders zonder stiekem zijn/haar hoofd te hoeven meten, haha. Voor mannen zou je er denk ik wel wat steken bij moeten opzetten, je kunt het patroon makkelijk aanpassen. 

Although I really like the yellow version, it doesn’t quite go with my hair colour. That’s why my Vietnamese friend Minh is modelling it for me, it looks so good on her! Because blue is my favourite colour, I decided to make another for myself. Started it last Sunday, done on Wednesday. Such a quick project, I only worked on it in the evenings. It’s very suitable to make as a gift, since the size fits (almost) all. No need to sneak around peoples backs with a measuring tape, haha! For men you would need to cast on a few more stitches, the pattern is easy enough to adapt.

Bij de tweede muts heb ik ná het boord wat steken gemeerderd, waardoor deze meer afzakt. De instructies voor zowel de (gele) beanie als voor de (blauwe) afzakmuts volgen komend weekend!! Ik ga snel aan de slag om het patroon zowel in het Engels als in het Nederlands te typen, zodat jullie hem nog voor onder de kerstboom kunnen maken!  Of voor jezelf natuurlijk 😉 Hartelijk dank aan Scheepjes voor het sponsoren van het garen voor dit project, zodat ik deze patronen beschikbaar kan blijven stellen op mijn blog. 

For the second hat I increased quite a few stitches after the ribbing, so it slouches a bit more. The instructions on how to make the (yellow) beanie and the (blue) slouchy hat will be published on my blog next weekend! I’m working on the translation of the pattern right now, so that it will as always be available in Dutch and English.
