Dit jaar doe ik voor de eerste keer mee aan de Scheepjes Christmas Blog Hop! Het is een blog-ketting van kerstpatronen met Scheepjes garens. Gisteren kon je een leuke DIY zien op de blog van Tatiana, en morgen zijn we te gast bij Jellina 🙂 

This year I’m participating in the Scheepjes Christmas Blog Hop, yay! It’s my very first time and it’s so exciting! It’s basically a chain between Christmas patterns on different blogs. Yesterday Tatiana posted a fun DIY on her blog, and tomorrow it’s Jellina‘s turn!

Om al in de stemming te komen voor kerst heb ik een hele leuke DIY voor jullie: namelijk een foute Kersttrui DIY! Het is de laatste jaren helemaal populair om een zo over-the-top-kerstig mogelijke trui te dragen met kerst. Met glitters… lampjes… 3D-applicaties.. Zó lelijk dat ze eigenlijk juist weer leuk zijn. Ik wilde er ook graag een maken, dus heb ik haakpatroontjes gemaakt voor leuke applicaties voor op je trui.

To get you all in the mood for Christmas I’ve prepared a fun DIY for you: an ugly Christmas sweater! The uglier the better. Just add glitter, lights, candy wrappers and christmassy figures. They seem to be so popular at the moment so I wanted to give it a go; I’ve written down instructions for several crochet appliques for your perfect holiday garment 🙂 

Je hebt nodig

Een trui die je wilt opleuken (ik kocht deze bij de C&A voor 8 euro)
Verschillende kleuren Lizzy glittergaren – ik koos 2 (zilver), 3 (goud), 5 (roze) en 8 (blauw)
Voor het hert: Cotton8 lichtbruin 659, donkerbruin 657, wit 502, zwart 515 en rood 510.
Voor de kerstboompjes: Cotton8 zeegroen 723

Haaknaald 3 – 3,5 mm
Schaar
Stopnaald

You’ll need

A cheap sweater you’d like to customize
Metallic yarn in different colours – I used Scheepjes Lizzy in 2 (silver), 3 (gold), 5 (pink) and 8 (blue)
For the deer: Scheepjes Cotton 8 light brown 659, dark brown 657, white 502, black 515 and red 510
For the Christmas trees: Cotton 8 seagreen 723

Crochet hook 3 – 3,5 mm
Scissors
Darning needle

Het Hert  –   The Deer

Hoofd:

Begin een magische ring met lichtbruin katoen, dan:
1. 3l, 5st, keer om
2. 3l, 1st in dezelfde steek, 1st, 2st, 2st, 1st, 2st in lossenketting, keer om
– vanaf nu haken we eigenlijk steeds 2st aan de randen en op de twee middelste steken, op alle andere steken haken we 1 stokje – 
3. 3l, 1st in dezelfde steek, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2st, 2st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2st in lossenketting
4-5-6. 3l, 1st in dezelfde steek, 1st tot middelste 2 steken, 2st in middelste 2 steken, 1st tot rand, 2st in lossenketting
7-8-9-10. 3l, 1st in elke volgende steek 
11. 3l, volgende 2st samen haken, 1st tot laatste 3 steken (incl. lossenketting), haak deze 3 steken samen. 
12. 3l, 1st in elke steek
13. 3l, volgende 2 st samenhaken, haak tot laatste 3 steken, haak deze ook samen. 
14. 1l, 1v, 1hst, 1hst, 1st tot laatste 4 steken, 1hst, 1hst, 1v, hv in lossenketting.

Speld het hoofd op de trui en naai het vast. 

Head:

Make a magic loop with light brown yarn, then:
1. ch3, 5dc, turn
2. ch3, 1dc in same stitch, 1dc, 2dc, 2dc, 1dc, 2dc in chain stitch
– from now, 2dc at the edges, 2dc in the two middle stitches, and 1dc on the other stitches – 
3. ch3, 1dc in the same stitch, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc, 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc in chain stitch
4-5-6. ch3, 1dc in same stitch, 1dc in every stitch until the two middle stitches, 2dc in 2 middle stitches, 1dc in every stitch until edge, 2dc in chain stitch.
7-8-9-10. ch3, 1dc in every stitch 
11. ch3, double crochet next 2 stitches together, 1dc until last 3 stitches (chain st. included), crochet these 3 stitches together. 
12. ch3, 1dc in every stitch
13. ch3, crochet next 2 st together, 1dc until last 3 st, crochet these 3 st together as well
14. ch1, sc1, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1dc until last 4st, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1sc, sl st in chain stitch.

Pin the head to the sweater and sew it on. 

Oog’lapje’  (optioneel)

met beige in een magische ring:
1. 3l, 5st, keer om
2-3. 3l, 1st in dezelfde steek, 1st tot rand, 2st in lossenketting
4. 3l, 1st in iedere steek
5. 3l, volgende 2 st samenhaken, 1st tot laatste 3 steken, deze samen haken.
6. 3l, volgende 2st samenhaken, volgende 3 st samenhaken

Eyepatch (optional)

with beige in a magic loop:
1. ch3, 5dc, turn
2-3  ch3, 1dc in the same stitch, 1dc until edge, 2dc in chain stitch
4. ch3, 1dc in every stitch
5. ch3, dc next 2sts together, 1dc until last 3sts, dc these 3sts together
6. ch3, dc next 2sts together, dc next 3 sts together

Neus

met rood in een magische ring:
1. 6v in ring
2. 2v in elke steek
3. 1v in elke steek
4. *2vsh*

Nose

with red in a magic loop:
1. sc6
2. sc2 around
3. sc1 around
4. sc2tog around

Ogen

met wit in een magische ring:
1. 6v in ring
2. 2v in elke steek
3. *1v, 2v*
4. *1v, 1v, 2v*

Met zwart in een magische ring:
1. 6v in ring
2. 2v in elke steek
3. *1v, 2v*

Naai het zwarte gedeelte midden op het witte gedeelte met behulp van de zwarte draad, neem dan de witte draad en naai op het zwarte rondje een wit detail zoals op de foto. Houd de lange witte draad over voor het vastnaaien aan de trui. 

Eyes

With white in a magic loop:
1. sc6
2. sc2 around
3. *sc1, sc2*
4. *sc1, sc1, sc2*

With black in a magic loop:
1. sc6
2. sc2 around
3. *sc1, sc2*

Attach the black circle onto the white circle with the black thread. Use one of the white strands to sew a white detail onto the black circle (as shown in the picture). Use the longer white strand for sewing later. 

Oren

Met lichtbruin in een magische ring:
1. 6v in ring
2. *1v, 2v*
3. *1v, 1v, 2v*
4. *1v, 1v, 1v, 2v*
5. *1v [x4], 2v*

Vouw de oren plat en dan dubbel voordat je ze vastnaait.

Ears

With light brown in a magic loop:
1. sc6
2. *sc1, sc2*
3. *sc1, sc1, sc2*
4. *sc1, sc1, sc1, sc2*
5. *sc1 [x4], sc2*
6. *sc1 [x5], sc2*
7. *sc1 [x5], sc2tog*

Fold the ears flat and then fold them double before sewing them on. 

Het gewei

Het gewei bestaat uit 3 reepjes. Eén lange als basis aan elke kant, daarna 2 middel-lange voor aan de buitenkant, en 2 korte voor aan de binnenkant. Maak dus twee van elk van de onderstaande delen. 

Deel 1 (het lange stuk) met donkerbruin
1. 4l + 3 keerlossen, keer om, 4st
2-9. 3l, keer om, 4st (8 rijen)

Deel 2 (het middelste stuk)
1. 3l + 3 keerlossen, keer om, 3st
2 – 5. 3l, 3st (4 rijen)

Deel 3 (het kortste stuk)
1. 3l+ 3 keerlossen, keer om, 3l
2 – 4. 3l, 3st (3 rijen)

The antlers

The antlers consist of three separate crocheted strips on each side. One long strip, a middle-length and short one on the sides. See pictures for reference. Crochet each part twice. 

Part 1 (the long part)
1. ch4 + 3 turning chains, turn, 4dc
2 – 9. ch3, 4dc (8 rows)

Part 2 (the medium part)
1. ch3+ 3 turning chain, turn, 3dc
2 – 5. ch3, 3dc (4 rows)

Part 3 (the short part)
1. ch3 + 3 turning chain, turn, 3dc
2 – 4. ch3, 3dc (3 rows)

Plaats nu de ogen, neus en oren op het hoofd en naai deze vast. 

Now arrange the eyes, nose and ears on the head and sew them on.

Nu ga je noppen maken voor op de voorkant van je trui.

Met glittergaren in een magische ring:
1. 6v
2. 2v in elke steek
3-4-5. 1v in elke steek
6. *2vsh*

Naai de noppen willekeurig op je trui. !!! TIP !!! Draag je trui terwijl je de plaats bepaalt van de noppen, zo kun je beter zien waar de noppen komen. 

Now make bobbles to decorate the front of your sweater.

With metallic yarn in a magic loop:
1. sc6
2. sc2 around
3-4-5. sc1 around
6. *sc2tog*

Sew them on, randomly across the sweater. !!! HINT !!! Wear your sweater while pinning the bobbles on, this way it’s easier to place them perfectly. 

Kerstboom elleboog-patches  – Xmas tree elbow patches

Hiervoor gebruikte ik het leuke patroon van Ellebel, vind het hier! Ik heb ze een beetje aangepast om ze kleiner te maken. 
For these trees I used the great pattern by Ellebel, find it here! It’s in Dutch but you can follow the universal crochet chart. I modified them slightly to make them smaller. 

Bam! Tada! Finito! En klaar is ie!!  Je kunt hem natuurlijk zo overdreven maken als je zelf wilt, maar ik vond hem zo wel leuk 🙂 Misschien maar beter niet dragen bij de schoonfamilie.. Ik ben heel benieuwd naar die van jullie! Het is nog even tot Kerst dus er is gelukkig nog genoeg tijd. Tip: Draag nog een kerstslinger om je nek als ketting om het af te maken- Jingle all the way!

Tada! Finito! Done! Presto! Yahtzee! Ready to wear to your next Ugly Christmas Sweater Party! Better not wear it at the inlaws’ Christmas dinner methinks 😉 You can even jazz it up some more but I liked it this way. I’m so curious to see yours! You still have a while before Christmas so there’s plenty of time. Wear some Christmas bunting around your neck for that finishing touch. Jingle all the way!
