Dagje Rotterdam

Dagje Rotterdam

Last weekend my mom and I went shopping in Rotterdam! We haven’t been there that many times so it was really fun. We had a fully packed schedule: visit the main shopping streets, the local yarnshop Ja, Wol, and the new Markthal (lots of foodstalls). We had a really good time!

Knit on the go

We had our knit and crochet projects with us in the train on the way there. It’s quite along ride from where we live, so we had plenty of time to craft and chat! And as always, I made a mistake since I was talking too much, so I had to knit backwards for a bit..

I really like the architecture in this part of Rotterdam!

I don’t know what it is with bicycles used as advertisement, I like them so much!IMG_6128

Wel een héél chique koffiezetapparaat bij Kookpunt.
Superfancy coffeemaker!

We werden heel hartelijk begroet toen we binnenkwamen! Natuurlijk zijn we eventjes blijven kletsen, zo gezellig!

I just love yarnshops with a cosy sitting area! The best part about our visit was that Saskia, the owner, saw our knit-on-the-go photo on Instagram and recognized us when we came in! We chatted for a while, it was really lovely 🙂

And you know how it goes… even though I said I wouldn’t buy anything (or actually: I did’t need anything), I still didn’t go home emptyhanded. I have learned from my mistakes though, I never buy yarn without a purpose again! I’m going to pair this with a beautiful skein of Noro I bought in Japan last year, and probably make a wintery cable scarf with it. To be continued!

Ben jij ooit in Rotterdam geweest? Wat vond jij het leukste?

Have you ever been to Rotterdam? What did you like best?

Excuse my English, it goes quicker than my Dutch. I love following your blogs and every time you show us another shop I have a giggle to myself and think back what my sister told me approximately 14 years ago. I was after a birth notice cross stitch for my first grand child, so I asked my sister who is not crafty at all (in The Hague) to look for me as I did not know many craft shops in Australia. She replied back and said “we don’t do that anymore in Holland meis, sorry” I did manage to get a lovely one from America and have since received many craft items from Holland, however it always brings a smile to my face.

Hi Winny, what a great story! If you look closely, craft and creativity is everywhere 🙂

I haven’t been to Rotterdam but it looks great. Especially the yarn shop. Your new yarn looks gorgeous. I have also decided to only buy yarn when I have something planned for it. I had to resists recently when I was on holiday!

You and your mum look so cute and like fun crafters. What a beautiful city you went to. Love that LYS. I like how crafting is appreciated in that city.
