Colorwork Knitting from Head to Toe – Meet the patterns
I absolutely loved every minute of making this book! Many of my family members modeled my designs for the book, which made it even more special. The book includes 20 knitting patterns, in five different colourwork motifs. In the picture above you can see me, my parents, my sister-in-law Jenny and bestie Charlie wearing (from left to right) the Heerlen hat, Wessem hat, Urmond hat, Leiden hat and Haelen hat. Each design also comes with matching cowls, mittens and socks.
For Colorwork Knitting from Head to Toe, I wanted to appeal to both beginner colourwork knitters and more advanced knitters. Some motifs, like the Leiden series, are easier to knit, while other motifs such as the Urmond and Heerlen series pose more of a challenge.
The yarn I’m using throughout the book is Scheepjes Metropolis, which is a fingering weight yarn with 75% merino and 25% nylon, and 200 meters per 50 grams. I chose this yarn because it’s my absolute favourite yarn to use. It’s super soft while also durable enough for socks, and it comes in 80 different colours. Perfect for a colour lover like me! It’s easy enough to find a substitute for this yarn as most sock yarns have a similar fiber content and meterage.
Tutorial videos
You know I’m all about the videos! So of course I wanted to add tutorial videos to my book as well. I’ve included QR codes throughout the book to help you along while knitting.
