Real or Fake?
In the past couple of months you have probably seen a LOT of pictures on social media with fake knitting or crochet. And it’s really maddening because sometimes it can be quite difficult to see the difference between a cute crafted item, and an AI generated image. Although once you notice it, it becomes easier and easier to spot. For instance, I bet you know AI can’t generate hands very well!
So what is the downside for the knitting and crochet market when it comes to AI generated images? Well, sometimes there are pattern shops which try to convince you to buy fake patterns. The product in the images looks beautiful, but it is unfortunately AI generated and the pattern is just a load of gibberish. How frustrating!
In this online world where more and more things are fake, I’m finding it really valuable to look up companies on Trustpilot. Trustpilot collects honest and real reviews from actual customers. Sometimes when I see an ad for a product, all of the reviews on their website and the comments on their Facebook posts are really positive. Glowing reviews everywhere! Except for when I look them up on Trustpilot, and see their actual rating is much lower. Nowadays for any product I’m considering, I’m checking the website on Trustpilot first to see if the website is legitimate and not just sending out fake products.
So of course, I had to add my own website to Trustpilot!

You can now find my website on Trustpilot! Aside from all the “is it AI or not?”, I find it really valuable for people to leave reviews about my patterns, tutorial videos, my writing style, and anything else I do. My own website doesn’t really have a review function (it probably does, but I’m not that advanced with website building yet!) and on Ravelry the review function is kind of hidden. So I really like the fact that you can now go to this page and instantly see what other knitters and crocheters think about my patterns.
I’ve only started collecting reviews this morning, and already I am so blown away by the response! Reading the reviews has just made my day!
