Degenen die me kennen weten dat ik dag in, dag uit op Instagram zit te neuzen, ik vind het zo heerlijk! Allemaal mooie plaatjes, het is bijna als Pinterest! Alleen is er een veel leukere community op Instagram, vooral onder de crafters. Er is zoveel interactie, lieve berichtjes, en vooral veel inspiratie! Vandaag deel ik de accounts met jullie die mij het meest inspireren. De meesten brei- of haakgerelateerd, anderen meer om mooie foto’s en kleurschema’s.

Those who know me, also know that I love to spend every waking hour browsing Instagram. It’s almost like Pinterest, so much inspiration! The best thing though is the amazing community, especially among crafters. There’s so much interaction, sweet comments, and most of all lots of inspiration. Today I’m sharing the most inspirational IG account of my own feed with you. Most of them are craft-related, others inspire me because of interesting photography and beautiful colour choices.

1. Alice Haugen @alicebyday

Wauw, echt, wauw! Elk van Alice’s werken vind ik even betoverend, van het patroon tot de garens. Keer op keer sta ik versteld van haar kleurkeuzes, die ik prachtig vind maar waarvan het zelf niet in me op zou komen ze zelf te maken. Ze werkt meestal met dunne garens, en neemt twee draden van verschillende kleuren samen. Zo krijg je een heel mooie gemêleerde look. Vooral haar bloemendekens zijn om bij weg te dromen.

Wow, just wow! I’m blown away by Alice’s projects every time. Her colour choices amaze me; I love all the combinations she makes, yet I would not think of putting those colours together. She usually works with multiple strands of thin yarn, taking one strand of each colour. Absolutely stunning! I especially love her floral blankets.

2. Emily Quinton @emilyquinton

Emily’s Instagram vond ik via Mollie Makes, waar ze wel eens mee samenwerkt. Ze plaatst elke dag prachtige foto’s van haar studio, vaak met bloemen. De kleuren en composities vind ik erg inspirerend.

I came across Emily’s Instagram when she collaborated with Mollie Makes magazine a few months ago. Every day she posts beautiful shots of her studio, usually filled with flowers. I find the colours and composition of the photos so inspiring!

3. Melanie Berg @mairlynd

Melanie is een ontwerpster van breiwerken die ikzelf pas kort geleden ontdekt heb. Ze ontwerpt prachtige shawls, laat ook altijd meerdere versies van hetzelfde patroon zien. Ze heeft al ontzettend veel ontwerpen op haar naam staan, dus neem zeker een kijkje tussen haar patronen.

Melanie is a knitwear designer I’ve been following for just a short while now. She designs the most amazing shawls, very delicate but very modern too. She always shows multiple versions of her patterns which I always find very helpful when choosing for colours myself. Definitely check out her patterns on Ravelry!

4. Melody Hoffmann @bmandarines

Melody is een française die op het moment in Letland woont. Tijdens haar studie heeft ze zichzelf leren breien, en nu ontwerpt ze al de meest fantastische sjaals. Haar foto’s vind ik altijd heel warm door de aardse tinten, en ik vind het leuk dat ze natuurlijke materialen gebruikt. 

Melody is a french girl living in Latvia. She taught herself to knit when she was studying a couple of years ago, and already she designs beautiful shawls, hats and mittens. Her pictures have an earthy, ‘woodland’ feel, and I love the fact that she uses natural materials. 

5. Mandy O’Sullivan @redagape_styleanddesign

Mandy heeft een prachtig huis, waar ze mooie heldere foto’s maakt van haar haakprojecten. Dekens overal! En wat voor een dekens, met de heerlijkste haakgarens die er zijn. Mandy is ook de oprichtster van de account @craftastherapy, ook zeker eentje om te volgen!

Do you like bright photos of a beautiful home with inspirational crochet projects? Then this account is one you must follow. Blankets galore with the most lush cottons around, Mandy knows what us crocheters like! She’s the founder of @craftastherapy, another must-follow IG account for crocheters. 

6. Annmarie @knittinggirl71

Sjaals in ribbelsteek, granny squares, mooie weilanden en een garenvoorraad om jaloers op te zijn, ik word altijd blij van de foto’s die Annmarie maakt. Een echte feelgood account!

Scarves in garter stitch, granny squares, pretty meadows and a yarn stash that makes us all a bit envious, those are the ingredients for happy pictures! A real feel-good account.

7. Robyn @crochetgirl99

En als ik het heb over knittinggirl, hoe kan ik crochetgirl dan vergeten! Ik weet niet of ze echt iets met elkaar te maken hebben, maar ze zijn in ieder geval even inspirerend! Robyn woont in Australië en is helemaal gek op haken, en dan vooral margrietjes. Ze maakt er dekens (en nog meer dekens, en nog meer dekens..), kussens, kerstbomen (!) en nog veel meer mee.

For me, when I think of ‘knittinggirl’, I almost immediately think of ‘crochetgirl’ too, haha. Kind of silly because I don’t think they know each other at all. Robyn lives in Australia and just like me is absolutely smitten with crochet. She makes beautiful things, and often a couple of daisies will make their appearance.
