The No Purl Cuff Down socks are the perfect socks to knit if you don’t enjoy purling. These were actually inspired by my boyfriend who is knitting me a pair of socks. He mentioned he wasn’t looking forward to the ribbing, since he didn’t like purling. So then I thought, why not design socks where you don’t have to purl at all? And here they are: the No Purl Cuff Down Socks. Enjoy!
These socks start at the cuff, which is formed by a narrow band of garter stitch, knit flat. This band is then joined in the round with kitchener stitch, and stitches are picked up on one side to knit the leg. The heel is a German Short Row heel worked in garter stitch. Please note there is no gusset, if you know you have a high instep you might want to customize this. From the heel, you knit down to the toe where you decrease and kitchener stitch the remaining stitches closed.
