Toe Up – Casting on and Casting Off

For a nice seamless cast on for Toe Up Socks I recommend the Turkish Cast On demonstrated in the video below. This is a great alternative for Judy’s Magic Cast On, because the Turkish Cast On is easier to get the hang of. Try it out on your next sock:

To create a stretchy finish on the cuff of your toe up socks, I recommend Lori’s Twisty Bind Off. It has been my favourite cast off method for years now – it creates a beautiful stretchy finish.

Cuff Down – Casting on and Casting off

To cast on your Cuff Down Socks I recommend the German Twisted Cast On. Did you know it is also known by the name ‘Old Norwegian Cast On’? It’s very similar to the longtail cast on but way stretchier!

After some practice you can get pretty fast casting on stitches using this method, and it’s nice and stretchy.

For a beautiful seamless finish to your Cuff Down Socks, I recommend grafting your stitches together, also known as the Kitchener stitch.

I’m demonstrating it in this video:

Having some trouble memorizing how to graft stitches? Try this tip on your next cuff down sock:
