Duplicate Stitch

You can use duplicate stitching to add more details to your knitting projects. In the book ‘Colorwork Knitting from Head To Toe’ we use this technique to add details to the Haelen Mittens.

In this picture, you can see the finished mitten on the right. Compare to the in-progress mitten on the left. There are several pink coloured rows (Colour C) to add, and some gaps in the orange rows (Colour B) to fill in. These stitches were left out in the colourwork to make it easier to knit the thumb in a solid colour.
