Het patroon voor de Catona lampenkap is bijna klaar… in de tussentijd laat ik jullie zien hoe ik van mijn oude lamp alles afhaalde zodat alleen het frame overbleef.
The pattern for the Catona lampshade is almost finished! In the meantime I’ll show you how I stripped everything off my old lamp so only the frame was left.
Ik kocht mijn lampje een aantal jaren geleden bij de Kruidvat, toen ik voor het eerst op kamers ging voor mijn studententijd. Ik vond het zwarte organza en de ‘kristalletjes’ heel leuk, maar nu ben ik er toch wel op uit gekeken. Bovendien paste het niet in mijn nieuwe interieur! Maar waarom zou je een lamp wegdoen als je hem ook kunt omtoveren tot iets nieuws?
I bought this lamp when I went to college and moved out of my parents house, a few years ago. Back then I really liked the black organza and the ‘crystals’, but now it’s time for something new. Why throw away a perfectly good lamp when you can still customize it?
Deze lamp had geen harde kap, maar een soort lint om het frame heen geweven. Daarom was het heel makkelijk om het organza ervan af te halen!
The organza was wound around the frame like a ribbon, so it was really easy to cut it off. Might have been more difficult if it was one of those hard lampshades.
Dit is het leuke stuk!

Originally I wanted to cover the lampshade with textile yarn, just like the organza, but then I couldn’t find a colour that matched my interior. Instead I opted for the multicoloured miniature granny’s! Pattern coming up soon 😉
