Today marks the start of my very first self-hosted KAL (Knit-A-Long)! I’ve published my Striped and Stranded Sock pattern last week, both in my own webshop and on Ravelry, and I thought it would be fun to do a little KAL and knit this pattern together!
Until March 15th there is a special discount on this pattern of 15%. In my webshop the discount is automatically deducted, on Ravelry you will need the discount code SASKAL15.
The KAL will run from today, March 10th, until the end of April. Depending on whether participants need some more time to finish the project I might be extending the deadline to somewhere in May. All rules can be found in this Ravelry thread. Later this month I will open a Finished Objects thread where you can enter your finished socks. Prizes will be drawn at the end of the KAL!
The pattern uses selfstriping yarn in a new and fun way! By selecting a new colourwork stitch pattern (included in the pattern PDF) for each stripe created by the selfstriping yarn, it actually looks as if you have used a new yarn for each stripe! If you have never knit colourwork before, it might be a little tricky to figure out at first. It is however very entertaining to knit and makes for very cozy socks as there is a double layer of yarn!
The yarn I have used is:
Fab Funky Fibres (selfstriping) – 100 grams in the Splash of Sunshine colourway
Scheepjes Invicta Extra – 50 grams of Dark Green 1300 and Mint Green 1608
For my second sample I am using a selfstriping colourway from West Yorkshire Spinners. Find this yarn as well as Scheepjes Invicta from the retailers below:
Wool Warehouse (UK, ship worldwide)
The possibilities are endless with this pattern, and I’m so looking forward to seeing your versions of it! Make a project page on Ravelry, or share your pictures on Instagram using the hashtags #stripedandstrandedkal and #stripedandstrandedsocks.
