Easy Peasy Christmas Garland DIY

Easy Peasy Christmas Garland DIY

Yay, another Christmas DIY! This one’s really easy, even suitable for beginners! We are making a Christmas garland, with just chain stitches, double crochets and slip stitches. No magic loop needed!

I made this garland using one strand of Scheepjes Cotton 8 and one strand of Scheepjes Lizzy together. The glittery Lizzy yarn adds a bit of holiday glam to the garland, while the cotton keeps the glitter yarn from twisting and curling too much. A perfect blend!

First chain 3 stitches, then crochet 15 dc into the very first chain stitch. Then close the round with a slip stitch, as shown above.

Chain stitches until you have crocheted about 10-15cm (not counting the previous circle).

Now, crochet 8 dc’s in the 3rd chain from the hook.

Skip 2 chains, and crochet a slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch.

Crochet 8 more dc into the same chain stitch you were working in before. You’re completing the second half of the circle now. Close the circle with a slip stitch.

That’s it! Now repeat the process: crochet 10-15cm of chain stitches, then crochet another circle. Make the garland as long as you would like. I made each one about 2 meters long.

In the tree it goes! Also fun for birthday parties of course, the garland looks a lot less christmassy with just the cotton thread. Or wear it as a necklace with your ugly christmas sweater 😉 Happy crafting!

    Plezierige dag vandaag, Margaret

[…] It’s only a few more days till Easter, and I have a fun little DIY for you to add that little touch of spring to your Easter brunch table. I usually don’t fuss that much about Easter, but since there’s not a lot of pastel in our new home I’m taking every opportunity I can get to add some gorgeous baby pinks and minty greens! The DIY I have for you today is an adaptation of one of my easy christmas garlands right here. […]
