Today I’m going to share a bit more about the Dawanda Design Market, that took place in Brussels last Sunday. About a hundred rooms of a hotel were transformed into small boutiques, it was very cute and cosy. I had a blast! This Monday I already showed you guys some pictures I took, but today I’ll talk more about the individual shops and designers.
This brand is called Tas van Tent (Bags from Tent), and all the bags and pillows are made of, you guessed it, tents! The result is a range of beautiful yet robust bags, purses and pillows, that are all waterproof! Perfect for rainy Dutch weather. Tonny Hartman is the designer, who still goes camping every summer. When one of their tents broke, she had the idea to re-use the fabric! Now she not only uses old tents, but also contacts the factory for scraps of fabric they can’t use anymore. What a great idea! You can find her Dawanda-shop here.
These cute cards, buttons and knitted goodies are by the brand Herr Pfeffer. They also had cute fabric purses on display, with the most adorable fabric! It was so crowded I couldn’t get a good picture of those, but you can look at all of the products in their Dawanda-shop.
These pretty bags and beautiful jewelry are made by the girls from the Belgian brand Lobo Gato. The bags were made of fun fabrics, and some of them were stamped with geometrical figures. Their jewelry is very delicate, with either a woodland or geometrical theme, so pretty! There were little deers and bunnies on the earrings and hairpins 🙂
These are the designers, Veerle de Wolf and Katrijn Wauters. When I told them that I was going to post some pictures of their products on my blog, they offered to let me pick a pair of earrings! Yay! This is the first time that I actually got a gift because I’m a blogger, and it’s such a great feeling 🙂 Although I still love writing and reading comments without gifts, of course!
These are the earrings that I liked most, look at how sparkly they are! They are 3D stars, with a tiny loose diamond trapped inside. On the top picture you can see me wearing them, although my hair is kind of obstructing the view. I really like wearing them! I hope you guys like their jewelry too. Help me return their kindness and pay a visit to their Dawanda shop!
And the last shop for today: Élufée! I immediately fell in love with the bohemian atmosphere of the boutique, everything looked adorable and vintage! There were big pictures with a pompom-edging, so creative! You can spot one in the top-right corner of the first picture. I’m going to do that with some of my own pictures for sure. She displayed her flowery headbands made of felt and leather in vintage suitcases. When I was in the shop I was so excited I forgot to take pictures myself, but luckily I saw the picture below on Élufée’s instagram page.
Cute, non? Usually I don’t really wear headbands, because they give me a headache after a while, but still I couldn’t resist browsing the flowery goodness! When I found one with the colours I liked, the designer Élodie (such a sweet girl!) came to help me put it on. Usually you use a headband to pull your hair back, but this one goes over the top of your head, like a hippie flower crown. You twist some strands of hair around the elastic, and with the remaining hair you can make a braid! She made a video on how to put the headband on here. It looks so adorable! I picked one with black and pink flowers, with buttons attached as the heart of the flower. In general, black is not a colour I would go for, but it really made the pink colour of the other flowers pop. I wore my headband for the rest of the day, and today I wore it to school. I got so many compliments, even from complete strangers! A major plus is that this headband does not make my head hurt, as it’s a soft elastic band. I think it’s just perfect for those days you don’t know what to do with your hair. It’s a fun hairdo and when you take the headband off, your hair is a bit curly! You don’t need bobby pins or hairspray to keep the band in place but you sure can, especially when there’s a strong wind outside.
Dat was deel 1 van de Dawanda winkeltjes. Vonden jullie het leuk? Ik anders zeker wel! Binnenkort weer een blogpost met nog meer wonderlijke handmade producten van designers uit heel Europa.
I’m so happy with it! You can check out Élodie’s headbands and other goodies in her Dawanda shop. Be sure to take a look at her flower-clips as well, you can clip them to the neckline of your sweater! I don’t know if she ships her products to where you live, but it can’t hurt to ask!
Did you enjoy my first post on the Dawanda shops? I sure did! In a few days there will be another blogpost, filled with amazing handmade products from fellow crafty people all around Europe. Stay tuned!
